Is It Dangerous To Eat Zero Calorie Zero Carb Shirataki Noodles Every Day

Konjac food manufacturer

Shirataki (Japanese: 白滝, often written with the hiragana しらたき) or ito-konnyaku (Japanese: 糸こんにゃく) are translucent, gelatinous traditional Japanese noodles made from the konjac yam (devil's tongue yam or elephant yam). The word shirataki means 'white waterfall', referring to the appearance of these noodles. Largely composed of water and glucomannan, a water-soluble dietary fiber, they are very low in digestible carbohydrates and food energy, and have little flavor of their own.

Shirataki noodles come in dry and soft "wet" forms in Asian markets and some supermarkets. When purchased wet, they are packaged in liquid. They normally have a shelf life of up to one year. Some brands require rinsing or parboiling, as the water in the packaging has an odor some find unpleasant

The noodles can also be drained and dry-roasted, which diminishes bitterness and gives the noodles a more pasta-like consistency. Dry-roasted noodles can be served in soup stock or a sauce.

Are konjac noodles bad for you?

Here are the real answers from netizens for your reference:

1、Dangerous? No. Assuming they agree with you. I don’t really love them but I have been eating them a couple times a week for years. They taste pretty much like slimy nothing. They do stink and you have to rinse them really well. I usually cook them in broth to add some flavor! If I add them to a dish with sauce I usually pit it together the night before so they can absorb enough flavor. But this is my best recipe for them. Drain, rinse, and cook in some chicken broth. Boil. Drain again. Then put some butter in a skillet and add the noodles. Fry them and get out as much moisture as possible. Add eggs, cheese, and seasonings. Cook thoroughly.

2、In my opinion no it is not dangerous , I personally eat them a few times a week as part of my diet. If we look at the nutrition facts , one whole bag only has 30 calories but it high in fiber which is needed in our bodies and good for our stomachs. These are ok to eat everyday as long as it is not the only food you are eating as your body needs calories and carbs, proteins, fats to survive. These as one part of a daily diet would be good . Thanks !
